After an unusually busy weekend and what seemed like unending gray skies (with or without precipitation) we were rewarded with clear skies and temperatures breaking 40 degrees. It was time to refill the firewood racks at the back of the house and make adjustments to outdoor decorations. Even the chickens enjoyed scratching through a flake of hay in the hen yard. (Theyve been staying inside much of this last week. They werent any happier with the weather than we were.) Since there was little on the books for the evening, we treated ourselves to simple fare, garlic-studded roast pork with cranberry relish and patriotic hash blues. Today, well begin the pates.
