After holding the record of the longest MB power-grab saga, the most publicity-hungry MB and the most bangang Langkah move, Selangor has broken yet another record. Most number of dengue cases in one week. More than 1,000 dengue cases in one week, said deputy health minister Dr Hilmi Yahaya today. He said the state had 1,000 cases out of 3,000 cases recorded all across the country in one week. Dr Hilmi said Petaling district in Selangor was the worst-affected, and pointed out that since Selangor was an urban state, the local authorities should take stricter measures to ensure cleanliness. He said poor rubbish collection was one factor behind outbreaks of dengue. This is what happens when the local councils are inept and when you change your rubbish collection system from the slightly more expensive but competent Alam Flora to multiple contractors with the lowest bid bid but turns out to be incompetent. Based on the latest stats, in the past 20 days (from Jan 4 to Jan 24) the top three dengue hotspots are: 1) Selangor - 4,684 cases 2) Perak - 1,083 cases 3) Johor - 486 cases 4) KL - 422 cases 4) Penang - 398 cases Lets hope Jokomin is serious about solving this issue as dengue is no laughing matter. (Many KL areas next tto Selangor so they are also affectred by Selangors rubbish and uncleanliness issues as mosquitos dont respect stete boundaries). Of a similar concern is Penang as the population and land size is much smaller than Perak or Johor but seems to have similarly high number of cases. idengue.remotesensing.gov.my/idengue/index.php freemalaysiatoday/category/nation/2015/01/25/selangor-sets-dengue-record-with-1000-cases/
