After inviting to join rest of the Common Wealth State heads at the CHOGM providing the opportunity to be aware of the genuine present situation in Sri Lanka despite all the erroneous allegations that the LTTE friendly media and public around the world are trying to send out to misinform them, what the Indian and Canadian PM did was like slapping in the face of all Sri Lankan people. It is sad to know that the reasons not to attend CHOGM was the highly exaggerated Human Rights Violations carried by the SLG and the non-implementation of the 13th Amendment within just 4 years after a 30 year long bloody civil war. Every country has a history with a dark period. What’s important is that what you do after that dark period. For Sri Lanka coming out of that dark period took almost 30 years due to various reasons. Now it is time to rebuild the future taking the past into consideration. Sri Lanka needs to move forward as one country and develop the country so that all communities within the country can benefit from the developments to become one happy people. International community, or the friends who should be there when in need, should lend a helping hand to Sri Lankan people to get up and to get over that dark past, not to remind the same evil over and over again which burnt the hearts, minds and souls of young and old of this beautiful island nation. It is also very important to know ones’ self before pointing fingers at others. Below are two examples from the countries that are not attending this edition of CHOGM.
