After listening to this from Carl Sagans Pale Blue Dot I think the only real solution to evil, war and terrorism is going to have to be an event or obstacle to humanity that can only be solved or overcome by the cooperation of all mankind. It makes me think that all those countless apocalyptic movies that have been made over time are simply guideposts by which we see a glimpse of how to finally overcome all that which hinders us as a species, the biggest hindrance, our own vanity and vain idea that we are the center of the universe. I believe that until such an event faces us we will never truly become one. It is only in the face of total extinction that we might find the will to work together. My biggest hope is that we can find a way to do that and make it out to the other side to live on and learn from that future history. youtube/watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M
