After months of investigating, the state Attorney Generals Office - TopicsExpress

After months of investigating, the state Attorney Generals Office has filed a lawsuit against Cohoes-based Sangamon Mills and its owner Michael Scott of Clifton Park. The business has been around since 1933 and is a nationally-known textile mill that made high-quality sunflower dish cloths. But the owner has told me after trying various things, he was unable to fix code violations at the Columbia Street site and has been unable to fulfill orders for months. The issue is that the business was still cashing checks during that time, with some peoples orders from a year ago are still not fulfilled. Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman pointed out that many of the people affected were involved in non-profits and church groups who bought the dish cloths to resell as fundraisers. I, personally, have gotten - on average - at least three calls each week about the status of the business from people in Texas, Alaska, Montana, Kansas, Oregon, Washington, Virginia, etc, etc. People obviously loved the product. The owner told me today that he plans to sell the site and hopes to sell the business with the hopes that this high quality product continues. He will use the money to pay back the customers - in the amount of more than $15,000. The AG is seeking restitutions for the affected customers and has filed an injunction that prohibits Sangamon Mills from accepting new orders while the factory is closed. Those who have also ordered from the mill but have not gotten their order can contact the Attorney Generals Office at: 1-800-771-7755.
