After seeing this documentary teaser I had to think about my recent emergency visit to the hospital Flevoziekenhuis because of sudden extreme pain I was experiencing in my stomach. The gynaecologist (N. Mensing van Charante) that was on shift at the time came into the room, sat down calmly, took a look at me and asked, What happened? I looked at him dumbfounded and thought to myself, Youre asking me what happened? Dont you just want to do the regular check up and rush away like every other doctor Id encountered before. I had no idea how to start answering his question but the fact that he FIRST took time to check in on me emotionally helped me realise that there is a HUGE connection between the physical issues we experience and our emotional wellbeing. I will be forever grateful to this doctor for this simple reminder and that its time I once again take heed of my own advice --> We need to first and foremost take good care of ourselves before we can be of any benefit to our family. Some may call it selfish. I call it being the CREATOR of my own sanity! Yesterday I started running again. Im determined to get myself back on track and beat these unexpected life transitions. “Go back? he thought. No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go! So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.” ― J.R.R.
