After sitting here tonight going through more CFRNs and the photos this week. I am great fully glad to have seen and been part of racing in the Midwest and elsewhere from the 70s through the 90s, cause I dont ever see it being the same again. We still have our great touring series as they did back then except for a few. But what has happened to all these major special events the tracks use to put on? Twin 50s, Twin 75s, 125 and 150 lappers as one day weekly race specials that use to pack the stands and happened every year. Grant it we still have our Fall Specials from back then, but we have lost so many others..........Midwest Championships, Driver Memorial events that were a big annual event, the Dixieland has kinda disappeared from its 80s status, The North American Cup..well except for the first two years when I had control over it and was a successful Super Late Model race, it has been an event like, lets call any event around that time of July that name. At least we still have The Howie Lettow Memorial ARCAFEST at the Mile and The Miller Lite Nationals at Slinger. Hopefully the Joe Shear Classic and the Larry Detjens Memorial continue to grow along with some others over the years to come. If it is not broken keep or bring it back again the fans will remember the event still.
