After the creation of new 18 states as recommended by the Confab, I will start a new agitation for my town-state-Ado-Odo state! Nigeria, two and half times the size of California State in United States, is so big enough to be canabilised into a hundred state structure, at least. Our resources, comparable to the combined budget of New York and Los Angeles Fire Service, is more than enough to sustain these states, so our politicians think, always. The resources, in as much as it is enough to be stolen by greedy politicians, provide enough reasons to justify the bureaucracies the new state bring. On a more serious note, I thought the Confab would have revisited the current state structure, being the greatest impediment to Nigerias development. The structure as it is currently is antithetical to the nations growth and development. combined with the greed of the ruling class, it is another reason the country is improvised and infrastructure delinquent. A six-state structure would have been apt, allowing for a lean government, true federalism and most importantly the devotion of countrys resources to addressing its numerous developmental challenges. It seems the wise men at Confab are still living in that era they presided in arresting the countrys development. What a missed opportunity. I hope the country would have another chance to address these issues.
