After watching BTV news, it amazes me how the opposition still manages to win some constituencies in spite of the blatant bias and skewed coverage on state media: BTV, Daily news, Radio Botswana stations, Govt Facebook page. The opposition wud pay heavily to Etv to get similar coverage, but still that wud not come close to BTV accessibility, which is free on DSTV and is accessed by aerial in almost every major village. Then u get control of the poor thru Ipelegeng, destitution etc. Yet the private media still gives the ruling party a fair share of coverage of anonymous letters etc. Its amazing becos given the total control of peoples minds, they are not supposed to win even a single constituency. Then u get the heavy bias of resources. The ruling party uses Govt resources to campaign via Kgotla meetings etc. The private sector feels compelled to support the ruling party to avoid threats and to continue to win Govt tenders. Imagine for the past 20 years or so Motor Centre leases vehicles to the ruling party, one for each constituency, while the opposition makes ends meet on foot or using personal resources. I recall Rre Kavindama using a donkey cart and still winning Okavango. Choppies donates heavily to the ruling party, others build houses for the poor. In such total onslaught just how the opposition manages to get some share of the votes amazes me. I think its one of the miracles of our democracy
