After what was EASILY the longest week of my life, I was sprung - TopicsExpress

After what was EASILY the longest week of my life, I was sprung from the hospital this afternoon. I do not know how seriously ill people do it; after a week in the hospital I was really in despair. I cant tell you how many times I was jabbed with needles; I can tell you that they had pretty much run out of places to draw blood. My arms, legs and hands are a mass of bruises and contussions. Plus, I am just exhausted...as anyone who has done a stretch in the hospital will tell you, the nurses, doctors and staff get you up about every two hours without fail. Usually, just as soon as you start to fall asleep, someone is shaking you awake for yet another extremely unpleasant procedure. Even getting out today was a feat - they were ready to keep me another night because one of my liver enzymes was still elevated. Only after I agreed to go in on Monday for more bloodwork, did they agree to let me go. I was ready to go AMA and Karen Marsh was there ready to drive the getaway car if necessary. Fortunately, we walked out with dignity intact. On the brighter side of all this, I had a private room for the entire week and I had some really tremendous nurses, doctors and techs at Riverside Methodist Hospital. And most importantly, I had the friendship, support and encouragement of some wonderful people: Many thanks to Leigh Aebie-Bachtel for the good luck bamboo plant and morale boosting visit; to Kori Marsh for the GORGEOUS orange roses which brightened my room for the entire week and for stopping in to visit; to Wayne Ellyson for the surprise visit and the gift of a piece of his photographic work that I had admired so much. More thanks to Liz West for a visit which brought a big smile to my face and the lovely orchid and card from my PawsPlus Hussies. Thanks to Sarah Kligshirn for dropping off some paperwork from the office and to Rachel Davis and her fiancee, Derek, for bringing over yet more paperwork from the office and for the nice visit - and for helping keep the office afloat this past week. A million thanks to Darin Kennedy for the amazing jack o lantern mum arrangement which not only brightened my hospital room, but is now lighting up my front porch. What a wonderful surprise! Thanks and love to my aunt, Mary Marsh, for her frequent visits and for the silly gifts. I made good use of those playing cards on a couple sleepless nights and thoroughly enjoyed the magazines. Plus, it was a comfort just knowing that there was a family member right there in the hospital, close by. Huge thanks, love and gratitude to my long suffering mother, Dianne Mack, who was there every day for hugs, moral support and general encouragement. I think that second attack of pancreatitis was harder on her than it was on me, and Im not sure how she put up with me being such a whiny brat on a couple occasions. But the biggest thank you goes to my sister, Karen Marsh, who basically kept me afloat throughout this entire ordeal. It was Karen who took care of my pets, brought me the newspaper and mail, took care of some bills, cleaned the house so I wouldnt come home to utter chaos, and was basically there every single day for encouragement, company and sympathy. Love you tons, sister. I am not 100% yet - far from it, as I feel as weak as a kitten tonight - but I think I am definitely on the mend. Thanks to all my Facebook friends for your kind thoughts and prayers. It has meant the world to me!
