After years of hunting, I personally have never witnessed this. This deer was previously hit and the infection was pretty severe. He had hardly any meat on his bones. I contacted our local DEC and after review, they issued me a replacement tag. I still wanted this awesome animal to get his chance in the light. Here he is. Sad, but I feel good about my decision. A classic 2 1/2 year old Steuben county buck that would have flourished into a stud!
