After yesterdays post about Tillie working on her dog-dog - TopicsExpress

After yesterdays post about Tillie working on her dog-dog aggression and seeing how that resonated with many of you, we wanted to share with you this song. Mama is a dog trainer and has worked with many dog-reactive dogs and their owners, dogs like Tillie who can loose their cool and go to a place for which their faithful human companion try desperately to pull them from. In trainers speak this place is called over threshold, the spot at which no learning takes place and the dog is fully engaged in her reaction to a particular stimuli. As trainers and dog folks we try to walk the fine line of teaching our dogs sub-threshold. This song goes out from Mama and Tillie to all our friends, clients and adopters who work so hard on a daily basis to counter condition and desensitize their reactive dogs. We think this is what some of them would say to their owners when they recover after an outburst. If you have a reactive dog and are in need of help, we use and recommend Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT) and Click to Calm protocols and NewTrix harnesses if you want to read up. If you need help, look for a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) or a trainer educated in science-based and force-free training methods. And specifically, this ones for you: Kara and Jez Lauren and Boo Chryste and Layla Patty and Bama Kim and Bella Connie and Brisco Tracey and Piggy (RIP) & Stevie Melissa and GA & Pig Johanna and Luna Our family is very connected to music and as I am sure many of you out there, we have soundtracks to certain times in our lives. My daddy is a musician, and while he has not played publicly in a long while, since kids, dogs, grad school and life has taken over, we hope he gets back to it soon. If you dont mind, we would like to share some of the songs that go along with some of the dogs of our lives over the coming weeks. ******************* Strangefolk - Whatever Lyrics Artist: Strangefolk I make my way by inches and degrees Cant make out the forest, too many trees Seems like every time I try Somethings there to stop me Only back down when theres something to lose One foot can sometimes be better than two And if I jump across the fence Nothing there to catch me I try to tell you what Im thinking But it flies back in my face Words come out different, meanings are shifted And my intentions take new shape Turning me backwards, lifting me upwards You drop me in my place Wherever that is, whatever that means Whatever difference it makes Could it be that you dont understand me I doubt myself sometimes never always I dont feel like holding out Cause Im too tired for this game I try to tell you what Im thinking But it flies back in my face Words come out different, meanings are shifted And my intentions take new shape Turning me backwards, lifting me upwards You drop me in my place Wherever that is, whatever that means Whatever difference it makes I make resolutions, I wont back down Then comes the rainstorm, and I hit the ground But the suns shining right now Take me away awhile I try to tell you what Im thinking But it flies back in my face Words come out different, meanings are shifted And my intentions take new shape Turning me backwards, lifting me upwards You drop me in my place Wherever that is, whatever that means Whatever difference it makes
