After yesterdays very cluttered heraldry, some of a rather more pleasant sort. These are the arms of my local authority (in their second form as Moray District Council). First matriculated by Moray County Council in 1927, rematriculated by Moray District Council in 1977 with the addition of a District Council coronet after the 1975 reorganisation of local government and again in 1996 with the new Area Council council coronet (Issuant from a circlet eight paling piles and eight garbs Or the last banded Sable) but no motto. The motto may have been dropped because the local wits translated it a Beyond Hope :-) The quarterings are the stars of the de Moravia family (considered form many centuries as the arms of the ancient earldom of Moray) and a variant of Randolph, Earl of Moray.
