Again, this is how the Left works, at least in the Western - TopicsExpress

Again, this is how the Left works, at least in the Western democracies; incrementally, here a little, there a little, at the outer fringes and peripheries of our lives, working toward their most critical and central aspects. This also demonstrates, yet again, why there is no necessary connection between law and lawfulness, in government or in society as a whole, and why one of the main challenges we face in the 21st century is the vast overgovernance of our lives by an equally vast and fundamentally unaccountable administrative state - those who actually govern and rule us and determine when and how we are in violation of the yawning abyss of regulations and strictures that now cover and smother most aspects of our lives (whether we know it or not, and many times wont know it until its too late and we step, inadvertently, over a demarcation line into some halo-enshrouded bureaucrats holy-of-holies). Tocqueville is, again, apropos here: The sovereign extends its arms about the society as a whole; it covers its surface with a network of petty regulations—complicated, minute, and uniform—through which even the most original minds and the most vigorous souls know not how to make their way… it does not break wills; it softens them, bends them, and directs them; rarely does it force one to act, but it constantly opposes itself to one’s acting on one’s own … it does not tyrannize, it gets in the way: it curtails, it enervates, it extinguishes, it stupefies, and finally reduces each nation to being nothing more than a herd of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd. Yes, dear reader, LDS or non-member: central government nutrition nannies overseeing every morsel of food we eat, what kind, in what quantities and portions, its fat, sugar, and salt content, and what we should be eating vs. what we may want to eat, at any given time. The free market (you and I) are not competent to determine our own diets or those of our children, nor intelligent enough to analyze and critique advertising claims or resist the bright colors and splash graphics on the supermarket shelves. Why, what WOULD we do without politicians, bureaucrats, administrators, experts, and philosopher kings (the best and the brightest of which always go into government) to set at lamp at our feet, and lead us, guide us, walk beside us, to help us find the way? heritage.org/research/reports/2014/07/fdas-artificial-trans-fat-ban-a-dangerous-step-to-control-personal-dietary-choices
