Aggravated Assault – Alice Springs Northern Territory Detectives are calling for public assistance into the assault of a 28 year-old female at Charles Creek Camp overnight. Detective Sergeant Jon Beer said a 27 year-old man was in custody. “Police were alerted to an incident in the camp just before 1am this morning and on arrival were informed the alleged offender had forced his way into the house where the female was staying, assaulted her and dragged her into a vehicle. “Responding Officers have spotted the vehicle and followed at a distance. “The alleged offender has realised Police were following and driven down a dirt track adjacent to the Todd River. He has then stopped the vehicle and fled, leaving the injured woman in the passenger seat.” Detective Sergeant Beer said Police pursued the man on foot and he was taken into custody. “The female was given first aid by Officers and was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by St John Ambulance with serious but not life threatening injuries. “We are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please contact Police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.” The man will be interviewed by Police later today.
