Aglaonema is quite a common interior plant. But did you know that - TopicsExpress

Aglaonema is quite a common interior plant. But did you know that this species has its origin in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia and New Guinea? They are also known as Chinese evergreens. Although its a kind of plant decorated with leaves, it can also bloom. Aglaonema belongs to the Araceae family, as many other plants like for example Dieffenbachia, Alocasia (I mentioned before), Monstera, Philodendron etc . All these plants have very similar flowers reminiscent of Calla (Zantedeschia). The fruit is a berry that ripens to red. As mentioned Dieffenbachia, also Aglaonema is toxic (but not so drastically as in the case of Dieffenbachia which is really extremly poisonous) and its juice can cause skin irritation and painful rash. By the way, I have none rash on my hands. There are about 20-25 species with many cultivars (Silver Bay in this video) which are different by color (plus patterns), shape and size of foliage and also by plant size. Many of them have white or cream-colored stems. Some have also been developed to tolerate colder temperatures. New species have even red leaves, as it will be seen in the next video. goo.gl/D8LPd0 #flowers #plants #kvety #rastliny #flora #zahradkar #interiorplants
