Aglish Community Defibrillator Becky’s Beat recently assisted Aglish Community First Responder Group & Geraldines GAA Club to purchase a community defibrillator for the community of Aglish. The Defibrillator is mounted in the local shop wall in Hurley’s Service Station for use by all in the case of emergency. The community has 9 people locally trained in the use of the defibrillator and will soon be training a further 12 with plans to extend training to local clubs, businesses, school staff etc. The group plan to develop a 3 tier system comprising of: 1st stage having someone one on the scene that knows what to do and how to call for help and even start CPR, 2nd stage the local first responder connected to Ambulance control to arrive with Defibrillator, and 3rd stage the HSE on route. While this will take time to prefect, one step at a time, the community are determined that they will get there. Photos include members of the local Community including David Cullinane, Chairman of the Geraldines GAA Club who presented a defibrillator to Gary Walsh on behalf of the Aglish Community First Responder Group for location at Hurley’s Service Station, Aglish, Co. Waterford with Richard Hurley, Proprietor of Hurley’s Service Station.
