Ah, yes, its that time of day when Leigh posts phone call with my mother. Today, however, we didnt have one phone call. We didnt have two phone calls. We had seven phone calls. SEVEN! The first call came in at 6:23am this morning. That call was to tell me she made it through the night. She was relieved no one had kicked her out and she was packing to get ready for the bus. No. I didnt even try to negate the bus theory. Second phone call was that the nice man from the sidewalk last night hadnt shown up to get her to the bus as he promised. mother, that was your nurse last night. Hes gone home. Theres no bus. Go walk down the hallway for breakfast. I couldnt get her to believe there was no bus and if there was it would be free, but she did believe breakfast was free for everyone today. help me with that one? The rest of the day she called about many things. Wet toilet paper - she got mad at the roll and stuffed the whole thing in the toilet (but no, it wasnt clogged). Her clothes not fitting - because those damned women cant wash anything without shrinking it. The toilet had been fixed - yep, the one that she said wasnt broken. She needed to talk to me because it was the difference between life and death - what did she mean? Apparently, if she cant get hold of me she believes its because Im dead. The last phone call of the day was to thank me for putting up with her because she would have made some people batty but not me. Didnt have the heart to tell her wrong-o! Youve made me pretty much bat shit crazy today.
