Ahaha. I am pretty sure, when a star becomes a black hole the radius of the gravitational field stays the same. So any astral bodies that orbited the original star would still orbit the black hole as if nothing happened. And i think, the event horizon of a black hole is the original circumference of the star. The circumference of the black hole, being a singularity. When a star becomes a black hole, it doesnt gain any extra mass, the mass is simply in an infinitely dense/small area, due to a lack of thermonuclear energy fighting gravitational energy. So despite popular depiction of black holes, they arent the vacuum cleaners of the universe.
