Ajagun Targets More Goals -Says Flying Eagles Need Accuracy Under-20 national team, Flying Eagles captain, Abdulajeleel Ajagun has admitted that losing several chances in front of goal remains the squad’s biggest problem at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey, but believes high level of unity among the players will help them overcome the obstacle. Shedding light on his thoughts ahead of this afternoon’s last group game against South Korea, Ajagun said he would love to add to his current haul of three goals in the championship but, while admitting he could have made it four had he converted a penalty against Cuba, the Dolphins of Port Harcourt midfielder says the biggest issue is how the team can win as one united structure. Alongside Ajagun, all the Nigerian players are not their usual happy selves at the moment, aware that they could be in a far more comfortable position in the group were it not for their wayward finishing. Ajagun, who also happens to be the competition’s joint-top scorer, also noted that he could easily well have been out in front in the tournament scoring charts - instead of being tied with Spain’s Jese and Bruma of Portugal. In his side’s 3-2 defeat to the Portuguese he lost three excellent chances, when denied by goalkeeper Jose Sa, but still scored both Nigeria’s goals, before another came his way against Cuba, as did further lost chances and missing from the penalty spot, but Ajagun still found reasons to look on the bright side. “It’s been a good tournament, but the fact is I’ve missed too many chances up to now. We’ve created a lot of chances, and I’m hoping that the goals will start to come thick and fast from now on. “The most important thing is that we’re playing as a team. Everyone is helping each other and when someone makes a mistake we try to get them up. “I keep saying we need to reach for the top. That’s the only way we’ll score more goals,” Ajagun told FIFA ahead of today’s clash with Korea (kick-off 3pm Nigeria time).
