Akatarina Lancelot, is the Supreme #1 Beauty and my mother and she is shown on the right side of this photograph as you look at the photograph. She was modeling at the time and had been training as a pilot in South Dakota, where she was the first woman to solo an airplane. She really enjoyed her natural talents as a designer and inventor. She has more than 130 inventions which were stolen from her and some of those are documented on Akatarina. Inventing and designing were part of her day-to-day life and her inventions included the style of hat shown in this photograph. Akatarina Lancelot invented what became known as Frosty the Snowman which she created for me at 338 S. Lafayette St in our front yard in Denver, CO in approx. 1967 or 1968. As a child, she invented the ScareCrow in Okoboja, SD, by stuffing some old clothing to distract an attack dog that was placed at the front door. My mothers ScareCrow was beautiful and whoever began marketing it must have made an ugly one to represent one of my mothers abductors and the hay that others used may have a special significance. My mother was terrified of the attack dog he put out in front of the house but she was very surprised that the dog actually felt better that someone was out there helping him watch and the dog stopped barking at her. She was never credited for that invention and they [the family who abducted her] threatened to put her in a mental institution for trying to get credit years later. Akatarina Lancelot also invented the Bean Bag for me at 338 S. Lafayette St. in Denver, CO [which has since been replaced by an apartment building] and she sewed up a perfect square and filled it with dry white navy beans as I recall -- although they could have been just dry White Beans renamed to Navy Beans because one of the thieves of my mothers inventions was in the Navy when he was younger. There were at least two other eye-witnesses to those inventions and my mother told us what to do with the Bean Bag, by telling us to keep it up in the air using our knees and feet. Later, the game of soccer used the same method of moving the ball across the field. My mother just said she wondered what it would be like to have bean bag furniture – she thought she might try making a Bean Bag chair and Bean Bag chairs were released in the market place in two or three days of that statement. My mother warned me, Dont you ever think they cannot steal your invention and have it on shelves the next day. My beautiful mother, Akatarina Lancelot, also began community gardening -- which she began requesting in SD and later two of those community gardens are at my elementary schools: Steele Elementary School and Sherman Elementary in Denver, CO and that is because my mother asked them to take a part of the large playgrounds [so large they were rarely used in their entirety] to use for a community garden for the school children and their families and the community, so no one would have to worry about not having food. The thieves of my mothers inventions were so worried she would make money, and so jealous she showed that she could make money when they could not, they tried to literally starve her and run her out into homelessness. It is possible that bean bag makers worried about the correlation between the dried white beans on the market and those inside the bean bags, and may have stopped making dry white beans as a result. Nowadays, only canned White or Navy Beans seem to be on the shelf. Claire Huckfeldt I am reposting these comments and photo -- which were originally posted on February 25, 2014.
