#Akbaruddin #Owaisi asks to implement #Charminar pedestrian project #MIM legislature party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has emphasized on the need to complete the Charminar pedestrian project to protect the 400 hundred year old historic monument in old city of #Hyderabad. He directed the concerned officials in this regard during a review meeting he held on the development projects of Hyderabad especially old city with #GHMC commissioner and others. He hailed the food subsidy scheme providing meals in Rs. 5 by Telangana Government and asked to start more such centers. GHMC Mayor Majid Hussain informed the meeting that Rs. 200 cr were allotted for the protection and maintenance of historic buildings and monuments in the city. MIM leader has also pledged complete support to GHMC to take up the development works for the rapid growth of the area. During the meetings, Owaisi had submitted a detailed list of proposals made by the party for the comprehensive development of the old city. He pledged complete support from the MIM for any kind of development work undertaken by the corporation. “MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi held detailed discussions on the all-round development of the Old City and made a lot of important suggestions. He asked us to take up conservation of heritage sites in a huge manner by providing certain benefits to the owners of the sites. He asked us to take up expansion of the roads in a speedy manner. The MLA came up with a great idea to give fillip to wholesome development of the Old City by suggesting a novel policy on the lines of industrial policy. The policy is to provide incentives like property tax rebate, waiver in building permission fee to residents who come forward to construct huge commercial and domestic complexes,” GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar told Metro India. Somesh Kumar also revealed that the Akbaruddin Owaisi gave special emphasis on speedy completion of the Charminar pedestrian project as it would ease traffic in and around historic monument Charminar. “Owaisi also asked us to complete the Charminar pedestrian project at the earliest. As per his directions, we will take up the pending works which could not be completed due to legal hurdles, at the earliest and complete the project on a war footing,” Kumar noted. The commissioner said that legal hurdles plaguing the pending project were over paving the way for the completion of the project.
