Akheti in Uttara Kannada district records highest rainfall in Karnataka! MANGALORE: Akheti in Supa taluk of Uttara Kannada district recorded maximum rainfall of 119mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on Friday. Bantwal hobli in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district recorded maximum temperature of 31.4°C on July 11 at 2.45pm. Madikeri hobli in Madikeri taluk of Kodagu district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.6°C on July 12 at 1.15am, VS Prakash, director, KSNDMC, Bangalore said. More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 32% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over Karnataka is considered fairly widespread since 57% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall greater than or equal to 2.5mm. Rainfall was widespread in 13 districts; fairly widespread over three; scattered in five; and isolated in nine districts respectively. Heavy rain was recorded in nine districts; rather heavy rain in four districts; moderate rain in 11 districts; and light rain in six districts respectively. South-west monsoon was vigorous in three districts; active over four; normal over 14 and weak over nine districts. Widespread, moderate to heavy rain was received in Bijapur, Gulbarga, Bagalkote, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Yadgir, Bidar, Chikkamagalur, Haveri and Raichur districts. Fairly widespread, moderate to heavy rain was received Davangere, Belgaum and Dharwad districts. Scattered, moderate to heavy rain was received in Bangalore urban, Bangalore rural, Hassan, Chitradurga and Kolar districts. Isolated, light to moderate rain was received in Bellary, Mysore, Koppal, Ramanagar, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Mandya, Tumkur and Gadag districts. Dry weather condition prevailed in remaining parts of the state. Karnataka for the period July 6 to July 12 recorded surplus rainfall of 5%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 62.1mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 65mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on July 12, four geographical regions received 14.7mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 9.8mm, a 49% surplus departure from normal.
