Crnic and Burk Will Not appear On November’s Ballot Bethel CT- Bethel Tea Party candidates former First Selectman Robert Burke and Selectman candidate Robert Crnic will not appear on November’s ballot. They had filed their certificate by the Sept. 4 deadline, nevertheless it did not have signatures. The Secretary of the State’s (SOTS) Office ruled that Bethel’s CT Tea Party, as well as other minor parties in the State’s towns did not meet the necessary requirements to be certified for the ballot. Bethel Town Clerk, Lisa Bergh called Mr. Crnic and Mr. Burke and informed them of the signature requirement. On Sept.9th they immediately went out and obtained the signatures. “I thought an addendum might be Ok because the filing was in on time,” Bergh said Tuesday. “I decided to check with the States Attorney at the Town Clerks Conference and he said no this not in compliance but he would review with other attorney’s at Secretary State. He called me back Friday at 20m on my cell and informed me the line was to be removed. He also told me several other towns suffered the same fate”.
