Al Wefaq will not undermine reforms Al Wefaq National Islamic Society will not be able to undermine Bahrains reconciliation efforts, said Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. He described attempts to change the political system as acts of sabotage. In an interview with Asharq Al Awsat newspaper, he said Iran is still interfering in Bahrains internal affairs despite our aspirations to share good neighbourly relations and hope to see it focus on its issues rather than on ours. Also, we dont see any role for Iran or Syrian president Bashar Al Assad that would help stamp out the Islamic State group. In fact, Iran is part of the problem. He denied that 75 sportsmen are in Bahraini prisons, pointing out to millions of US dollars being spent to disrupt stability in the Gulf region. What is happening in Yemen is a threat to the whole region, he stated. While welcoming foreign media coverage of the elections, he refused international election monitoring since we dont have any electoral fraud problem. He expressed astonishment at the negative reaction to naturalisation saying: Why shouldnt naturalisation be allowed in Bahrain while it is permitted elsewhere in the world?
