Ala. court upholds capital murder conviction MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A state appeals court has upheld a capital murder conviction from Jefferson County. In a 4-1 decision, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals rejected arguments from Anthony Lane that there were problems with his capital conviction in Jefferson County. But it said Circuit Judge Clyde Jones order sentencing Lane to death erred in finding that the murder was committed for financial gain and it improperly considered Lanes juvenile record. The appeals court said the trial judge must write a new sentencing order. Lane was convicted of fatally shooting Frank Wright at a self-service car wash in Birmingham on May 22, 2009, taking his vehicle and setting it on fire. (Copyright 2013 The Associated Press.
