Albay Celebrates 440th Anniversary Legazpi City, Albay – Albayanos celebrate Albay’s 440th anniversary this week, looking toward a progressive Albay by combating poverty and insurgency. The celebration also highlighted a tribute to personalities who became the province’s pride. After a mass at Albay Cathedral last Thursday, winning beauty queens and excellent PNPA and PMA graduates had a motorcade with Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda and other government officials. Twenty others, in the fields of literature, music and history were also honored. The governor said that in 1574, Albay was already mentioned in the Spanish conqueror’s annals as a progressive province. Salceda said that education and health are the government’s priority. (Niño N.
