Album Of The Day-The Fool On Every Corner/Mike Cooley I have to - TopicsExpress

Album Of The Day-The Fool On Every Corner/Mike Cooley I have to confess that in spite of a friends recommendation over the years Ive not spent much time investigating Drive By Truckers or the shuffling cast within. I wrote earlier praise for Jason Isbells latest that stand by, but youve heard all about that album. Today I recommend to you this solo live outing from another Trucker who is not Patterson Hood. Mike Cooley aint much of a singer and hes only a bit better as a guitar player {hes barely in tune on this recording}. Also, this is no recording for audiophiles but it doesnt matter because hes a gloriously good songwriter. No wonder Isbells record is so good [and it is]. He was at school all those years with this guy. If you like great writing [of any kind] you will love this record. If you want guitar solos, soaring voices and or you are currently wearing a deep v neck t shirt and skinny jeans you wont understand this record. Return the clothes, find a beer you actually like, buy this record and go to school on it. Thanks to Stacie Huckeba for sharing this wonderful piece of work with me. Highly recommended.
