Alizée Jacotey is an acclaimed French singer, born on August 21, 1984 to a computer scientist father and a businesswoman mother. She began her entertainment career as a dancer when just a toddler. In 1999, she entered her name for a televised talent program, Graines de Star, in the dance category. However, since the dance contest was reserved only for group entries, Alizee volunteered for the singing contest, singing Ma Priere, and ended up winning the Meilleure Graine award for the most promising young singing star of tomorrow. At that moment, Alizee the singer was born. French pop star, Myl¨ne Farmer and musician and composer, Laurent Boutonnat, who were looking for a new voice, auditioned Alizee and were impressed. The pair took Alizee under their mantle and chalked out her career. In 2000, her debut album, Gourmandises, was launched, containing the hit single Moi¦Lolita. Like her song, Alizee too acquired a Lolita-like image and she garnered a large male fan following. Her second album in 2003, Mes Courants ?lectriques, was also successful. In 2004, she released another album, Aliz©e En Concert, with the DVD featuring videos of her live performances and rehearsals. Even though fans love her as a singer, Alizee prefers dancing, and is a proficient ballet, flamenco, tap, and jazz dancer. She is a football aficionado and one of her favorite teams, AC Ajaccio, had her kicking off one of their matches. Alizees empathetic nature can be seen from her involvement in the Les Enfoir©s group, which organizes concerts every year, the proceeds of which go to feed the poor. Alizee married contemporary French singer, J©r©my Ch¢telain, in 2003, and their first child, a girl named Anny-Lee was born on April 29, 2005.
