All Aboard Florida moves forward with quiet zones at train crossings. The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization has budgeted $4.2 million for the quiet zones but may pay only $1 million depending on how much work is needed. If its less those funds can be allocated elsewhere. All Aboard Florida has agreed to pay $60 million towards the necessary changes. Each crossing will be evaluated and then modifications will be made to ensure it is safe enough that the train does not have to use its horns. Fort Lauderdales AAF Station is moving forward. Several buildings located on the eastern side of the FEC rail were torn down last week in preparation for a third track to be added. They must add this track to allow freight traffic to travel safely past the platform construction.
