All but one of my college chemistry classes were taught by Jerry Manion. As a freshman I cruised by with what Gary Strain had taught me in high school. Then I hit organic. Oh it was painful! But I admired and respected Jerry Manion so much I refused to give up, and I kept going and it got better. When I was asked to teach chemistry at CHS I felt a little rusty so I contacted Dr. Manion and he set up a special problems class that summer just to fill my needs. I learned more in those few weeks than you can imagine. I was stunned to hear today that Dr. Manion has passed away. A few years ago I did what us tough guys seldom do...I told him how much he meant to me and how much he helped mold my life. Im glad I did. Life is too short.
