All day Ive seen posts about suicide, depression, and the victims involved, and Ive agreed with many....Is depression a horrible disease? Yes. Are we often too quick to judge? That too. Will suicide forever have an impact on those who care about us? Of course. I honestly wasnt going to comment, but I feel that one thing has been somewhat overlooked: Our ability to have an impact on others through our words and actions. Yes, its important that people know they can come to you when theyre in trouble...that they shouldnt be ashamed to ask for help...but its also important to be proactive....Take an extra second. Think things through. Say something kind. Go above and beyond. Make yourself available. Let people know you care....Words and actions that seem insignificant to you could mean everything to someone else. Most of the time it may not seem to matter, but kindness and compassion never hurt. You may not save a life....Thats ultimately not your decision....But how you treat others is always your decision.
