All is now set for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in Anambra State which holds today at designated centres in the 326 wards in the state. The congress is for the election of three ad-hoc delegates per ward, one of who must be a woman, for the purpose of the PDP State Congress (gubernatorial primary elections) for the November 16, 2013 governorship election. At press time yesterday, members of the Congress Committee sent by the national secretariat of PDP, led by the Chairman and Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Ude Okoh were already in Awka, arranging for a meeting with the state executive of the party, gubernatorial aspirants, congress monitors and security agencies. Other members of the committee cited at the Marble Arch Hotel, venue of the meeting about 6.30 p.m., were the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Olejeme; Secretary of the committee, Tijani Yahaya; John Kude, all the PDP state chairman in the South-East and members of the South-East Zonal Executive led by the National Vice Chairman, Col. Austine Akobundu (retd). Also, at various campaign offices of the aspirants in Awka, meetings were going on as officials put finishing touches to their plans to include more of their supporters as delegates. At the PDP State Secretariat at Udoka Housing Estate, the State Chairman, Prince Ken Emeakayi and some of his officials were seen putting things in order for today’s primary election.
