All my educationist-life, I have been circumstanced to work in private institutes which invariably charge in lacs for a Bachelors or Masters course, which is understandable to an extent as they fend for themselves, without any grants. First time now, I am associated as the Dean, albeit half the month every month, with an institute run by a trust, and affiliated to Mumbai University, where the fees of most courses are in thousands a year (not lacs). The flagship course (AICTE approved PGDM in Communication Management with MBA of another university in Media & Entertainment), though is in lacs, is cheaper than ALL PG institutes I had been associated with earlier. Hope to see some middle and lower middle class youth come into media with flying colors now! And AICTE PGDM + UGC recognized MBA will also be a great combo to watch out for.
