All on my own I am fitting the under body Ram what I have just fitted new seals on my Tractor Trailer ! I spent all week fitting new seals ! I have lifted the tipping body with the boom truck and jammed a piece of 5x9 timber so it didnt fall on me in case the lifting gear failed ! If it falls on you dont bother calling ambulance as you will be guillotined in half ! The nearest house is 100 yards away and they wouldnt hear your SOS ! The Ram weighs over one CWT and the shape is awkward to lift on your own and I used a sack barrow to get it near where it should be and used a tow rope and yanked it in to place ! With great difficulty got the bottom pin on and the top pin took ages as use of the heavy hammer might tend to dislodge the piece of timber and wallop it comes down on you ! I am recording all these details as I was proceeding towards the tip on Friday with a heavy load of tree cuttings a lady nearly jumped to the path of the vehicle with her head in her hands but I had to race away as the tip closes at 6.00 PM . She caught up with me this morning down Burgess Road and gave me a right Rollicking as according to her half of my load was dragging along the ground ! I explained to her that the load was well secured with straps and would not come off ! Oh yes she said If the Health and Safety Officer had seen you , you would have got done ! Where would the mighty H&S officer would be this time of the day ? Sitting on his ass or shopping in Sainsburys ! Further more I wonder what the H&S officer would have had to say about how I went about repairing my Trailer ? I am of a Generation where we were trained to FINISH the JOB today without hurting yourself and not leave it for tomorrow ! Have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday ! I am off for a ride in my tractor !
