All, one of the great concerns many here on the continent of Africa have, is our western tendency to save the day. Real power comes to a people when THEY decide they will no longer deal with oppression and repression. Change will come when the oppressed decide that their oppression must end. I am hearing the voices of many LGBT sisters and brothers who are laying their lives on the ground, because oppression is a fate WORSE than death. I respect them and stand with them. I also stand ready to hear from them what they feel we who support them can do to help. There is a song that came out of our struggle to be freed from chattel slavery...Oh Freedom! Oh Freedom! Oh Freedom over me, and before Ill be a slave Ill be buried in my grave, and go home to my Lord and be free! This is the attitude that brings change. We will lose some battles, but we will win the war. This is not a struggle for wimps. I am humbled to know these freedom fighters. They will prevail.
