All our lives we are taught that if you really want something you have to be willing to work for it. Once that has become our way of thinking its so hard to get past it in order to experience Gods saving grace. The one who had the hardest time accepting this eventually became the one who seemed to understand it so well. The Apostle Paul said this For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV). We get this right?! The wonderful thing for us that have that work ethic ingrained in us is that once weve accepted the gift God has plenty to be done!!! The same man who convinced us that salvation was a gift also said this workout your salvation with fear and trembling. Salvation is a gift but working it out into all areas of our lives is up to us! Oh but dont forget that working it out into our lives means relying completely on the Gift himself!!! Paul also said I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me! Do we see it?! Even though we have so much to do we always have to rely on Gods grace to get it done!!!!
