All right people, now that we have settled in here for a little - TopicsExpress

All right people, now that we have settled in here for a little bit I am ready to update you on how things are. We live on a YWAM campus called Stones Hope. It is up in the mountains and about 10 miles from the ocean. We already miss the beach, but at least we can see the ocean from the porch of one of the houses. The temperature is cooler than Belize. I think its perfect, but the others think it’s a little too cold. It is the best temperature for wearing pants and a thin sweater, kind of like late Norwegian spring. The only negative thing about it is that there is no hot water in the showers so staying clean is more challenging, but not impossible. At least we have running water, praise God for that! :D The base is about 25 minutes from a town called Mandeville and apart from that it is pretty isolated. This is a struggle for some of us and for the students that are doing their DTS here so please pray that we will find rest and peace here and not keep looking for ways to get out of this place. The base has one DTS going and they are 6 students. There are a few DTS staff, but most of the staff work at the school that this base is running. It is a school for local kids from the age of 3 through 12. They are all chocolate and cuter than you could ever imagine! Fun fact: As we were still in Belize praying for this outreach children ministry kept coming up and even from the first few weeks of lecture face that is what God showed us and this base main focus is children and the 4-14 years window. God knew even before we knew what country to go to and it is very encouraging to be here and know that this is exactly where God intended us to be. A lot of the stereotypes you might think about Jamaica, most of them are true! There are a lot of Rastafarians and in the town near by, almost only black people. Their slang language, Patwas, sounds really cool and everywhere you can hear people saying “Yah man!” Simple phrases like “good morning” would be “Gud maanin!” and “Whats going on” is “Wah Gwaan.” It is a lot similar to English, but the words are shortened down and they talk really fast! It is really fun to learn and they are incredibly passionate about their Country so they are more than happy to teach us. As for the base, since we got here most of us felt an unsettled something, but were not able to put our finger on it. In our team time on Tuesday we talked and God really showed us what it was. It was an amazing time of feeling God leading us so clearly, but now that we know, we have to fight. I wont go into detail because this is on Facebook, but please pray for us! Pray for our team, that we will keep being filled up by the Holy Spirit and together maintain the passion for Jesus that we got in Belize. Pray that we will be able to do what God shows us, and that He will guide our every step!! If you want me to elaborate more on the subject, I will send out a more detailed letter via E-mail so if you want to know more, message me you E-mail by Saturday and I will send it to you. Keep praying!!
