Allow me to recognize Officers P.F Cole, and Deputy D. Tuck of the Dorchester County Police force, for their outstanding jobs at upholding the Constitution. Last night there was a shooting in my neighborhood. I photographed the scene from the grounds of my private residence. Multiple officers objected to being on camera, and were unhappy to learn that SC law does not prohibit the recording of police officers from a 3rd party not involved in the incident. These two officers only asked me not to film the victims, which I did not. I had multiple officers tell me to put my camera/ phone down/off, in which I informed them that I, as does any innocent bystander, have the right to photograph any public servant, under the SC code of law. And even had one officer tell me that it was my last chance to turn my phone off. P.F Cole and Deputy D. Tuck did not complain, and even shook my hand after I congratulated them for responding and being compliant with the law, something that everyone, including those with a badge, is required to follow. Its officers like these that need to be congratulated for upholding our Constitutional Rights as taxpaying citizens.
