Almosta Farm Report: Two days now I havent checked more than my messages on facebook...so I apologize if Ive missed a big event for one of my friends! Just staying busy with the normal things like filling the dehydrator, emptying the dehydrator, repeat! :) And a few other things of course! Im attaching a video of Spider hopping in and out of a old abandoned septic tank that was laid up out of concrete block, then had a pipe and a piece of metal placed over it, then covered with rock and dirt...many years ago. Now it has started to cave in so it is just a hole in the back yard. We knew the neighbors are working real hard to fix the place up and were busy with other things, so we volunteered to make it more visible for safetys sake. We opened it up enough to see how big it is, then marked it off so no one would accidentally walk into it. How this video came to be is when Spider hopped out he said, Thats how a 78 year old man gets out of a septic tank. Naturally I grabbed the ever handy camera on my hip and said do that again! :) That is why the video shows him going in and then back out. :) We did fence it off then. Picked my first black berries today! Since we turned back the lease on the land that has the berries I didnt know if Id get any, but the man who leased it left one large patch when he brush hogged, and told me he left them for me to pick! Yea! Thank you! Thank You! We have a hen hatching chicks. 3 days ago she got off the nest to eat at about 11 AM, then when I went to feed and shut them in around 6:30 PM I found that she had went back in the wrong nest box. The eggs felt colder than my hand when I felt of them. I made her get off the other nest and she went back to her eggs. I didnt think they had any chance of hatching, but tonight I could see 2 little chicks along side of her in the nest box! Yea! Hope you enjoy my video! NLM
