Aloha HUTers, This is probably one of the most important reads - TopicsExpress

Aloha HUTers, This is probably one of the most important reads for any HUTer because if you HUT or do any form of modern HIIT or HIFT you are likely to fall into this dangerous realm. I know the addiction and I am known for dishing it out, but I also know what it can lead to and anyone who has talked goals with me or maintenance knows my stance on the matter, fatigue can not be confused with quality. Kielbaso goes into his own passion for training in such a way and being known to create training that leaves people feeling beat. Once you get accustomed to grueling workouts, it’s as though you crave the feeling of fatigue. If you’re not crushed at the end of a workout, you feel like it was a weak session. But, if we’re puking in a bucket or can barely walk, it MUST have been fantastic. He mentions how this is often related to how people judge and instructor with the fallacy that more intense means better quality. I wont be the first to say that this is BS. Now lets be clear, high-intensity interval training is essential to develop capacity threshold in an athlete or an individual. The effects of high-intensity interval training have been proven in multiple studies to present greater fat loss results at 20 minutes than that of running for an hour, and the endurance benefits have been cited to benefit both strength athletes endurance athletes almost across the board, but this approach alone is not complete. It is simple as that. The truth is, making fatigue is actually very simple and potentially mindless. We have to consider that making people tired and sore is easy. Making them better is a much more difficult task. Remember, part of what you may be looking for in absent-minded training is the lack of active thinking itself, found in practices like meditation or yoga. That desire is both natural and healthy, but should be considered realistically. As most of you know I study this field daily at a masters level and I have been involved in movement since I was 7 years old (Martial Arts and Dance). Exercise and movement for me is a key aspect of life. I can honestly say that the people I see make the most progress dont train insane all the time, but have goals and work based off a plan that incorporates intensity at the right times. Recently one of these individuals showed up to HUT after 6 months of program based training and literally killed the workout, finishing sprints at the head of the pack. Another program based trainee does the advanced conditioning once a week with us and she always leads the way in endurance based workouts, but primarily focuses on her physique in her training protocol. These people can definitely train insane, but they always train smart. Take away: HUT is founded on quality and we recognize our faults and improve off of them. So if you are HUTTing you are on the right path, but make sure you are training smart goal and plan based vs. chasing the fatigue high. We love what we do and we are here to push you forward, so if you ever have a productive criticism or advice please send us a message or talk to us in the field, as HUT is here to stay and grow with its community. So at the end of the day we expect you to give your all, but we also want you to train smart. #hutstrong #hutsmart
