Aloha Kakou..to bring you all up to date in a short summary..The sublease request by UH Hilo was approved at the last Board of Land and Natural Resources meeting was approved although those supporting the mauna pointed out numerous serious infractions in the application. Members of the Mauna Kea Hui and Office of Hawaiian Affairs indicated that they would file a contested case regarding the approval. Since that time OHA held an emergency board meeting and made the decision to withdraw from filing the contested case mostly due to Hawaiʻi Islandʻs Trustee Bob Lindseyʻs convincing argument to do so. I donʻt believe he completely understood the impact of withdrawing because the sublease is not in our favor at all, us the beneficiaries it needs major correction! But he wants the Thirty Meter Telescope built so thatʻs what he focused on. Dontʻ forget we have filed an appeal regarding the TMT. Auwe e Moku o Keawe. Our kanaka sitting on both boards making decisions for our Hawaiʻi which are not pono for us or the aina...Where do we stand now? On Friday the recommendation is to deny our contested case request of course so we will need to appeal again. If anyone can assist us with this appeal, please step forward....contact me...we need council, advisement, reviewers in a hurry!!!!!
