Along the same lines as Leah Graupmann Peterson spoke of. This is the mare I got from South Dakota approximately three weeks ago. She was lightly started at five years driving and under saddle. She had approximately four months of work with the traditional dumb jockey/overcheck/ weighted shoes. All acceptable if your doing saddleseat! I had wanted to go back to saddlebreds for a dressage horse for quite some time. The poor mare had an 8 day trip from hell with a commercial shipper out of SD and arrived dreadfully underweight. Spent a week feeding and hydrating before I even sat on her. The dressage trainer has her gold medal and been lucky enough to show at Wellington and Devon. She LOVES this mare. Like so many professionals that havent really worked with these guys she just didnt know about their abilities ...she is tickled at the mind, the willingness, the scope of natural talent in the hind legs..shoulder freedom. The best part is that people walk in the barn and instantly fall in love with her.. :)
