Alright! Heres my Top 5 releases of 2014 list... 1) Annabel Dream Reader, the debut album from Brighton psych-rockers The Wytches. Well worth the hype, the album exceeded all expectation. And the expectation was high. https://youtube/watch?v=9k3YhGlCRVM 2) Amphetamine Ballads by The Amazing Snakeheads. Their show at Dingwalls earlier in the year blew me away, and whereas the album that followed didnt quite capture some of that Meteors-esc psychotic energy, its crooning film noir soundscapes brought to light a whole new aspect of an already incredible band. https://youtube/watch?v=m8ONa0WJtgw 3) We Wander In The Night/Rinse And Retreat by Cassels, the new single from one of my favourite London noise-makers. Theyre also my top tip for 2015, theyve also a video out today in aid of Crisis homeless charity. https://youtube/watch?v=JOxDENuWr78 4) All Hail Deathcats by Deathcats. Caught on to these guys way too late, before getting the chance to see them - but not before hearing their beautiful debut LP. Garage revival with a perfect blend of psych, surf and catchy-as-hell songwriting. https://youtube/watch?v=gFb1755stno 5) The last in my list was technically a 2013 release, Spitfire by Jonny Cola & The A-Grades. However, I bought it in 2014 and the lads played one of my favourite shows of the year at the Barfly and also their memorable farewell gig at the Buffalo Bar. The album is constantly on rotation in the house and i felt it deserved an honourable mention. Just a goddamn great record. https://youtube/watch?v=_8ADdrH5M7M There you have it, happy New Year!
