Alright folks Im going to go off for a few minutes, please dont read if you dont have time.. Going to talk a bit about Amare Stoudemire, one of the baddest forward/ centers to ever play in the NBA. They were showing an old Suns game from 05 with Nash, Stoudemire and Marion on NBA tv. What an awesome team we had. These guys won more games than pretty much everybody for those 3-5 years, but commentators and haters couldnt get past their lack of defense. They were by far one of the most exciting teams the league has ever seen. Nash is in the top 5 of point guards on pretty much everyones list now, and rightfully should be, but I fear Stoudemire has gotten lost in the shuffle. Big time. People need to remember to tell their kids about this guy - who was a lock for the H.O.F. if it wasnt for his inuries.. This guy was fing AWESOME. A real freak of nature in the most beautiful sense. What Karl Malone was in the late 80s and 90s, this guy was in the 2000s, except he had the excitement of Dominique to go with it. So fun to watch, you never knew what he was going to do but you knew it would be great. `Downright SCARY around the basket, could finish or dunk on anyone, anytime. Had an unbelievable knack for completing 3 point plays and finishing anything where he had to maneuver or manipulate the ball around the basket. In other words, had a great feel and touch, wasnt just a dunker. His combo of power and speed at the forward/center position was revolutionary and still hasnt been matched, and could drop 30 points on teams pretty much every night. And he could still play without Nash. I remember Ainge saying he was like Bam Bam from the Flinstones and I thought that was right- on, because he was an like this young, unpolished wonder who was still learning how to play while dominating the league. He could literally hurt people by dunking, but I dont believe he was a mean guy as much as he was just...unpredictably scary, again. Anyone remember the scene in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Jefferson went off on the other team because he thought they trashed his car? Scared the crap out everybody.. Yeah. This guy had so much passion on offense, thats what it was probably like for any defender he was up against (Olawokandi) Just this raw, unfinished perfect gem with CRAZY energy on offense. No one wanted to be near him if he was around the hoop. Aside from his knee injury, the main thing keeping this guy from still being the shit is when the Knicks got Carmelo (awesome as he is) on the team. Amare could definitely play without Nash, but needed a better system; one where he was either the focal point (as his Knicks tenure started as) or where he could at least get SOME touches (talking about Carmelo,.. and to everyone else that had to play with him). Its just a real shame because this guy should have been a lock for the hall of fame, one of the best all - time at his position and now Im not sure how many will remember him. He will always be one of my top 5 players of all time.. Do I sound like a fan? Well it wasnt hard.. Watch this career highlight reel from youtube, an UNBELEVIABLE amount of stuff, shocking. Miss you Amare! https://youtube/watch?v=7IH0vzCo6IY
