Also, is there any reason besides cost that what we see as entry-level jobs shouldnt be viable long-term careers. I see plenty of people complain about the bad customer service you can get in retail and food service. But dont you get what you pay for? Why couldnt we have people who specialize in this and are happy to do the work because they are compensated accordingly. I know that in the real world, the cost of labor is the limiting factor. But people act as though there is an intrinsic problem with these jobs being careers on a matter of principle. And I just dont see it.
