Altar Familiar (Family Altar) by Wendy Cortazar Ortiz Iglesia El Encuentro FRIDAY Read Matthew 18:22-35 . We thank God for the gift of forgiveness because through His blood were blotted out all our sins. We died with Christ on the cross. We were buried with Him and were raised to new life with Him. This helps us to understand that we all need to learn to forgive those who have hurt us. We can not carry a lifetime of grudges about things that happened years ago. Ive seen people hold a grudge and take it to the grave. This makes their lives on earth miserable and affect their health and eventually kills them. If you have Christ in your heart, you have the ability to forgive. This is part of your new life in Christ. The only way of dealing with our past is with forgiveness. Jesus said that unforgiveness would hinder our faith. In the parable of the servant, the servant could not pay the debt, so his master forgave him. It was a debt he could not pay. The comparison with our situation is that before we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we had a debt of sin that was impossible to pay for ourselves. The man in the story, after being forgiven his huge debt, he found a partner who owed him a small amount of money. But unlike his master, who canceled his debt. Instead of canceling the debt, he demanded total payment. When his partner told him he needed time to pay the debt, the unmerciful servant took him to jail. When the Master knew what had happened and called his servant for not forgiving his companion. he restored the debt. If someone offends you, forgive because unforgiveness brings torment to the lives of people. If you have not forgiven someone who has done something in the past, it is better do it at once. Because of this, the servants debt was restored. It is also true that Jesus paid for us the curse of the law and its effects: disease, eternal death, poverty and other negative things, but these things can still work in those with unforgiveness. Just as Jesus forgave your sin debt, youre redeemed with His blood. You must also be willing to forgive. Listen to None But Jesus by Hillsong.
