Although many of VWBs programs are focused on livestock and livelihoods, that doesnt mean our volunteers forget about the plight of dogs and cats in developing countries! Our communications volunteer, who is stationed in Laos, has rescued several troubled animals, nursed them back to health, and found them forever homes where they will be treated as family members with regular veterinary care! Her favorite before and after success story is of the dog in the pictures below. This little lady was found near-death after surviving distemper, tick-fever, and severe malnutrition. After several trips to the vet and a lot of protein and iron-rich food, she gained strength, grew a beautiful coat, and is moving in with her new family next week!
