Although many vets are not aware of it, current research indicates that a high protein, low carbohydrate diet is best for cats. Since cats are obligate carnivores, they dont have the proper enzymes to digest plant-based protein, so avoid any foods that use plants as the primary protein source.-Well, theres a memo from the Department of the Obvious.....Common sense....cats are carnivores. Obviously in humans, the reason people opt for low carb diets is party because our body turns carbs into sugar, which isnt good in excess. So....it would stand to reason that it would not be good for cats either. Why is research specific to cats needed? Their anatomy is not so different than ours. Lucky Roadie will be getting tuna for the next few days until hes feeling better.
