Always so hectic in our homes at times like this. Rushing around - TopicsExpress

Always so hectic in our homes at times like this. Rushing around getting things done. But we love it! We live for it. My mother was given back to the earth on this day and were all in the midst of preparing her feast. My mind is on the teachings, the ceremonies and why we do these things. Its not for nothing. Theres a reason for why Nohtawinan intended our people to live this way. Theres a reason for why we feed our loved ones who passed on, the memorials and everything else cultural/ceremonial wise. Ive been very fortunate to have been taught and still learning our culture and I thank my mom for that, for showing me this beautiful life. I was never forced to learn, at a young age I realized how precious the language and ceremonies were. Now that Im a mother I think about who is going to do these things for us when we leave this earth? Who is going to teach our babies? Its never too late to want that for them. I pray everyday that my moshom and my uncles stay here long enough to watch my son grow into a man and show him what he needs to learn. Our belief is what comforts us and we know our passed loved ones are with us, we know they help us from that side. So I thank those of you who come to support us at these times, especially when we needed it the most when she left us. Nanaskamon! Also, thank you to the women who helped cook for today and to the oskapews who are setting up outside. My heart is heavy to see how many of you are genuinely here for us. Hiy-hiy, migwetch!
